Case study: Vertica and Power BI based Automated Reporting for a Fortune 500 Electronics Company
About the Client
The client is one of the largest Fortune 500 companies in the world and a leader in digital and electronic products.
The client needed an end to end dashboard automation with intermediate risk mitigation steps involving data modelling, visualizations, threshold creation, alerts and scheduling. The output was expected to be a real time dashboard showing activities over time by different dimensions, to be provided to sales representatives.
BRIDGEi2i engaged with the client to deploy a Watch Tower solution that provided a real-time dashboard for gauging campaign effectiveness. The dashboard highlighted the performance of all digital marketing campaigns by tracking key performance measures identified by the client.
- BRIDGEi2i’s data engineering team built schemas in client environment (in this case Vertica). They also checked for data quality and completeness.
- The team built a stable Python extraction code to reduce data acquisition time.
BRIDGEi2i’s BI experts identified key metrics and used Power BI to build data visualizations. The Python automation scripts helped automated refreshes of the BI tool. Data scientists also created a threshold for KPIs in the dashboard enabling an alert code based on threshold breach.
The consulting team and AI Labs deployed the Campaign Effectiveness Watch Tower solution which included creation of the SSIS work flow of the dashboard right from data extraction to alert generation. The alerts were scheduled through SSMS based on desired frequency.
This resulted in better visibility around campaign effectiveness and enabled faster decision making on campaign strategy
